Professional Knowledge carries the highest weightage — 100 of 225 marks. This is the single most important section of the Main Examination.

- • Final selection will be based on the Main Examination and Interview, as per IBPS guidelines.

Online registration for IBPS AFO 2026 (CRP SPL-XVI) is open from 1 July 2026 to 21 July 2026, with an additional edit window of 2 days after closing.
When will the IBPS AFO 2026 Prelims and Mains be held?
The Preliminary Examination was held in August 2026, and IBPS published the result status on 15 October 2026. The Main Examination is on 1 November 2026; IBPS released the Mains call letters on 22 October 2026.
How many vacancies are released for IBPS AFO 2026?
IBPS updated the vacancies on 20 July 2026: 370 Agriculture Field Officer (Scale-I) posts, in Indian Bank (180), Bank of Baroda (100) and Bank of Maharashtra (90). The 1 July notification had 190.
What is the IBPS AFO 2026 exam pattern?
Prelims has 100 questions for 125 marks across English, Reasoning, Quant and Professional Knowledge in 80 minutes. Mains has 150 objective questions (200 marks, 125 minutes) plus a descriptive English paper with 2 questions (25 marks, 30 minutes): 225 marks in 155 minutes. Is Agriculture asked in the Prelims exam?
There is no section named "Agriculture" in Prelims. Instead, the Professional Knowledge section (25 questions, 50 marks) tests agriculture-related concepts relevant to the Agriculture Field Officer role.
Is Professional Knowledge included in Prelims?
Yes. This is new for the 2026 cycle — Professional Knowledge is now part of the Preliminary Exam itself, carrying 25 questions for 50 marks in 20 minutes.
Is the Descriptive English paper compulsory?
Yes, the Descriptive English paper (2 questions, 25 marks, 30 minutes) is a compulsory part of the Main Examination for all candidates.
Is there sectional timing in the IBPS AFO exam?
Yes. Both Prelims and Mains have sectional timing — each section must be completed within its own allotted time, and time cannot be shifted between sections.
Is there sectional cutoff in Prelims?
Yes, candidates must clear the minimum cut-off marks in each of the four Preliminary sections individually, in addition to the overall cutoff. See the IBPS AFO cut off 2026 page for the status and previous years.
Can final year students apply for AFO 2026?
Candidates must have their final results/degree on or before the cutoff date mentioned in the official notification. Usually, this date falls in August/September of the recruitment year.
